Senior Chief Petty Officer. Starfleet is in my blood, and I’ve spent my entire adult life in service to boldly going.

Keiko and Molly are my favorite humans, but Transporter Room 3 will always be my favorite.

Just don’t ask who what’s in the pattern buffer.

  • I remember my mother taking me into a store when I was a child where people were striking.

I asked why they were yelling since I couldn’t read the signs. I was told “because they’re lazy and think they should be paid more than people like your father”

It was many years before I understood what they were mad about, and that they do NOT believe they should be paid more, they believe everyone should be paid more but they only have control over their own employment.

Nowadays whenever I see employees striking, I give them a little fist out the window and a meep meep and shop somewhere else.

Don’t cross picket lines, your nacho cheese or deodorant can be bought somewhere else. Bonus points if you call the employer to inform them that you are shopping elsewhere until their employees conditions have been met and they decide to end the strike.

  • The French teacher at my high school grew up in France and moved to the US in her 40s, and loves to bring up how often she is in Canada and some places in Quebec, many people refuse to speak to her in French. Every year she would bring up how some places that speak French will critique your accent much harder than others, and you might not get the conversations you hope for.

She says she refuses to speak in English if she’s in a primarily French speaking area. Which if you live in a foreign country, I can totally see wanting to stick with your original language whenever possible if only to keep it in your mind. I can’t imagine living in a country that wasn’t primarily English speaking, not because I don’t want to learn and use another language, but because it’s a huge change.

Tns of respect for any non native speaker in a foreign country. It can’t be easy, even after years of immersion. Don’t apologize for your accent, you speak my language infinitely better than I speak yours.

  • Yeah, I’m getting really tired of people saying “well it’s an illegal order so it doesn’t matter” and not giving it another thought, despite everyone in power treating them as perfectly legal, and nobody doing a goddamn thing to put a stop to it.

If trump issues an executive order calling for executions of minorities, it doesn’t fucking matter how legal it is if the powers that be let people do it, and let Trump stay out of prison.

We aren’t to that point just yet, but I fully believe something on that level is coming, they’ve just got to ease into it so it just doesn’t seem that much worse than the last thing that was done.

Until I see actual consequences that make a difference, my hopes are sitting around 0.

  • Under five minutes.

I interviewed, accepted the job offer at the end, showed up for my first scheduled shift and found out my manager wasn’t the polite manager I interviewed with.

For the record, I was supposed to start at 9am. It was 8:45 when I walked in.

Manager, literally yelling from about 300ft away: YOU’RE LATE!

Me, confused: I’m 15 minutes early?

Manager: I EXPECT YOU TO BE HERE HALF A HOUR BEFORE EVERY SHIFT, IF YOU’RE LATE AGAIN YOU’RE ON THIN FUCKING ICE

And I turned my happy ass around and walked out.

I don’t care if it was some bullshit tactic to “weed out” people, that is completely unacceptable behavior and in my younger years I have gotten into fist fights over someone speaking to another like that.

I had another job inside a week.

I don’t care if they had someone to fill my spot the next day. It wasn’t worth the time.
