I think I spend more time blocking channels and clicking “not interested” than I do watching videos.
So many AI thumbnails and low effort clickbaity titles.
I got an addon that hides the recommendations from me on my homepage. Had it for a few months now and I don’t plan on going back.
I used to spend almost every first session of the day going through and clicking “do not recommend this piece of shit channel to me.” It was kind of like a game to me.
I just use subscriptions and dont have it recommend me anything. Works wonders!
We need an open-source Firefox extension that marks ai “content” in-case YouTube takes action against these beloved playlists.
And it could be powered by community, if someone would mark ai channel then it wouldn’t appear for rest of people
I would download that in a heartbeat. I pretty carefully curate what I watch on YouTube, but I did accidentally click on some AI generated music once. Closed that tab pretty quickly. Don’t want that shit coming up on the sidebar.
Honestly ai generated music isn’t music at all, just mashed up beats and sounds. No creativity or work has been put to it. System could be like one in sponsorblock where someone reports video then another person checks that and if it’s correct then channel would get marked or hidden
With how terrible people are with instantly assuming everything is AI, I don’t think it would work that well sadly.
Almost all the content I watch/listen to now is flagged as 2 years old or older, to escape AI slop. I will also watch/listen to content that’s small-channel (like < 10k, most often around 2k) and obvious real people sharing thoughts, ideas, reviews, whatever.
Sad because a lot of the other channels I used to watch have started using AI imagery and even voice - even though they didn’t need any of that before. So, I’m wandering away from those, as well.
Would love an extension, site, or something that assists with flagging AI - and promoting non-AI content creators.
