Exactly.
People don’t root for feature-poor stuff because it’s unique but because the features it’s missing - that they want - preclude the hardware and the hardware maker from slipping in features that they don’t want.

I think it’s also a sign that people want devices that don’t come from Big Data, aren’t online and aren’t designed to put them under surveillance and invade their privacy.
John Wick is awesome
To each his own. I find it unwatchable. It’s unrelenting high-speed sameness from beginning to end. Very tiring to watch and very boring at the same time.
The Matrix has turned into another meh franchise that’s just an excuse to sell lots of the funky impossible karate that was impressive and refreshing the first time, but now totally repetitive, annoyingly constantly fast-paced, and stupid sub-plots with zero surprises.
It’s devolved into another totally boring and unimaginative franchise that’s being milked for all it’s worth, like the million Marvel, Fast and Furious or John Wick movies out there.
My father in law was a proctologist - and also a man I didn’t really enjoy spending any time with. One day during one of those strained compulsory family dinners - not sure which, maybe Thanksgiving - he turned to me and said with this false jovial air:
“Hey, you’re a computer guy. I have this problem with my Windows laptop. Could you take a look?” and proceeded to unpack his laptop, which he had brought along, clearly to have me fix it.
So I got up, started undoing my fly and said “Sure! Hey, I have piles. Could you take a look?”
He got up and left without a word, and never came back. His wife kept visiting though, thankfully. She was lovely. But I got rid of him for good that day. But I did have to face the music with my wife 🙂
