Steve Martin tells a story about the first time he met with Carl Reiner after Reiner agreed to direct “The Jerk.” It was the first script Martin had written and he was nervous about what a comedy legend like Reiner would say about it.

Reiner goes through the script and gives it back. the only changes are that he made every outdoor night scene into a daytime scene.

“I’m an old man. I don’t want to have to stay up late anymore.”

Movies have been doing tie-ins for decades. It costs a lot of money to release a game and they probably had feelers out months before the release.
