Thank God for a silent protagonist. BZ is the game that made me realize why games have silent protagonists. Nobody would shut the hell up, I even turned off voice tracks.

But not everything is returning to tradition. The vehicles you’ll get here won’t include the nippy Seamoth submersible or hulking Cyclops submarine from the first game, we’re told, because the team want to make “new vehicles that are designed in the same spirit, just more suited to the brand new environment”.

It costs you almost nothing to put them back in as unlocks, even if later in the game. Why not? You’re literally just wasting goodwill. The assets and programming are already all there.

Other games like Elite Dangerous are putting their old ships and vehicles back in. The masses love that shit x3

Agreed on all points. Silent is always better. Dead Space was a big one for me. That aside, on the vehicle bit. I agree it seems a weird choice. Even if it’s in like a New Game + mode, not having them at all seems a weird decision.

I can understand it for the Cyclops. I love it in the first game but it’s a massive ship that needs a lot of space to maneuver, especially if creatures bumping into it can move it in ways it doesn’t normally steer while you’re driving it. Designing a game for the cyclops to get to the end means there needs to be a large path all the way to the end, or multiple large paths if you want to avoid that main path being linear.

Though on the other hand, they could put the cyclops in the game as a red herring where anyone who builds one ends up leaving it near the surface because it turns out to be impractical. I think it would fit the style of the game where you’re exploring an unknown area. Some resources could prove to be less useful than hoped for.

It’s a different Engine for starters. I don’t know if it’s as easy as just moving assets over from one game to the other.
